Brown Bear

This picture was taken on a penninsula off Lynn Canal outside of Juneau by someone Mike works with.
I understand you don't want to mess with the Brown Bears. They are sure cute to look at, but they can be very hazardous to your health!!!

Juneau in February

Long time no blog!
We have had lots going on but haven't been out much to see the beauty around us. Today we had some light cloud cover, but no rain or snow...so it felt like the perfect time to get out and start getting pictures again. Besides, I want to play with the new camera.

We started at the glacier and ended up at Auke Bay. Mendenhall Glacier was the MOST beautiful color of blue today. Wow, it was just breathtaking. Makes you wonder why I am not there more often, doesn't it?
Auke Bay was beautiful today with a very slight breeze but the sun was peeking through the clouds as we were walking around the docks.
While we were there we got to watch seagulls... ...harbor seals... (This little guy was really playful and was as curious about us as we were about him.) He even played while we watched... ...and stellar sealions were right there too! A crow posed for a picture. And on the way home, I couldn't resist pulling off at the bridge that crosses Mendenhall River to get this great picture of a bald eagle.
