Brown Bear

This picture was taken on a penninsula off Lynn Canal outside of Juneau by someone Mike works with.
I understand you don't want to mess with the Brown Bears. They are sure cute to look at, but they can be very hazardous to your health!!!

Snow Day

Wow, Aly's school did finally have their first snow day on Friday. Between the past two storms we think there may have been an accumulation of about 5 ft of snow... Here is a picture of the front of the house the other day:We planned to visit the glacier and see some wonderful things on Saturday but instead it turned into a work day shoveling the driveway, side of the house and a trail to the fuel tank in back... AND several of the men from the neighborhood worked on the common area trying to get it clear so there will be room to drive cars through. Here are some pictures of that job.
It is a little difficult to see at a glance how deep the snow is, but when you see these men that are nearly 6 feet tall out there, it puts it into perspective. (You can see the driveways down the street too, the snow is higher than the cars!!!)
(In the second picture Mike is on top of the snow pile, Andy is on the ground and Brian is in the truck.)
