Brown Bear

This picture was taken on a penninsula off Lynn Canal outside of Juneau by someone Mike works with.
I understand you don't want to mess with the Brown Bears. They are sure cute to look at, but they can be very hazardous to your health!!!

Pictures ...

I thought I would add some pictures to share some of the things we have been seeing. We tried to get pictures of a marmot, but everytime we got close enough to see him and zoom in, he would duck into the green on the side of the road.

We also saw a seal and a couple of dolphins swimming in the ocean and I got video of them, but there was an old kantankerous man standing behind me talking louldy and he really needs some of that gum that cleans up your mouth nicely (so I am not adding THAT video until I can figure out how to do it without sound.)

Anyway, here are some pics...

This is a Jay that was in the tree in the front yard. When these birds fly, they have the most beautiful color of deep teal blue on their wings.

My two favorite places here are at the Glacier and at the End of the Road. This is the view you see just before you get to the end of the road...

Yesterday we witnessed something we hadn't seen since we have been here... the sunset. The picture was taken as we were driving from Downtown Juneau back to the Valley....

...And here is the Mendenhall Glacier again. This picture was taken down below it from Mendenhall Lake. This lake completely freezes in the winter and people cross-country ski & skate on it. They even have 'skater's cabin' that you can hang-out in and have a fire to keep warm. We have met some very interesting people at Skater's Cabin. Zeke will love it when he gets here.
