This picture was taken on a penninsula off Lynn Canal outside of Juneau by someone Mike works with. I understand you don't want to mess with the Brown Bears. They are sure cute to look at, but they can be very hazardous to your health!!!
Well folks, it is true - Alyx has her driver's license. She turned 16 back in December, but we weren't really keen on the idea of her taking her driving test on ice & snow, so we waited. It is official.
We got to spy on this little guy for a while up at the Glacier. Some tourists were there from South Carolina. We visited with them for a while and then when we left to continue our walk, we told them to be careful. They asked why, is the bear wild?

These raspberry-type berries are so yummy. They grow pretty large as you can see by the size in my hand. When ripe they may be red, yellow, or orange. Great for jelly!!! YUMMY

Salmon are Here!!!
We went to Mendenhall Glacier and the sockeye salmon are running! They are in the river and to the streams. We watched as the females dug the holes to lay their eggs and the males guarded the females to make sure all went as planned. Very awesome to witness! You need to get up here and see some of this amazing wildlife!!!

That's awesome, oh how time flies and they grow up rather too quickly. Briché would love her license, but you see, I work for Allstate Insurance and I struggle to think about paying the premium to have her licensed, so I put her off... which she totally hates. (sigh)
