We are loving all of the beautiful green-ness of Juneau in July!!!
We have past our longest day of the year and are on the downhill slide toward darkness again. The fireworks went off last night around midnight but there was still some light in the sky. Here is a picture of the moon just before midnight...you can see that there was a light hazy feel to the night, but no clouds and it was still a little light. There is a visible outline of the trees and the snow-capped mountains are still easy to see. By the middle of winter, this is what it will look like at 3:45 in the afternoon.
These are some grasses that are starting to seed out. I am not sure what type of grass it is, but it makes a beautiful display.
Alyxandra walking on the Steep-Creek trail.
This is a view of the glacier from the trail 'look-out' with the trees in the foreground. Amazing at this angle to see how the ice starts breaking so far back in the glacier and it is easy to see why it calves off as it comes to the water.
We hope you have a wonderful 4th of July! Thanks to everyone who has served or is serving to keep us free!
